Israel Rejects 15-Point Gaza Proposal, Demands Genuine Disarmament

Israel has refused a 15-point proposal for Gaza put forward by the Board of Peace. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israeli forces would not leave the area until Hamas disarms completely.

“Israel rejects the 15-point Gaza document proposed by the Board of Peace,” Netanyahu stated during a Cabinet meeting. “The IDF will not perform any withdrawal until Hamas is truly disarmed.”

Discussions with the United States are ongoing, focusing on ensuring Hamas relinquishes all weapons. Netanyahu emphasized the need for genuine, not fictitious, disarmament.

“It needs to be genuine disarmament, not fictitious disarmament,” Netanyahu said.

Hamas, on the other hand, maintains its commitment to a roadmap set in Cairo, and a senior official expressed hope that mediators would pressure Netanyahu to comply.

Despite some critics within his own circle, former President Donald Trump has been described as aligned with Netanyahu on Middle Eastern strategy. Both leaders find common ground in curtailing Iran’s influence in the region.

The issue of disarmament became central following Hamas’s control of Gaza and their attack in October 2023, which escalated tensions. Since the ceasefire last October, Israeli actions in Gaza continue as negotiations focus on security concerns.

Netanyahu dismissed reports of disagreements with Trump, reaffirming alignment on the issue of Iran. The two leaders share similar views regarding the prevention of Iran obtaining nuclear capabilities.

Within his remarks, Netanyahu categorically rejected the establishment of a Palestinian state in Gaza or the West Bank, asserting there would be no “Fatahstan” or “Hamastan.”

Netanyahu also addressed recent military operations in the region, boasting about strategic successes in Lebanon. Further, he reassured that Israel remains vigilant against Iran, highlighting a strong alliance with the U.S. in countering Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

“I greatly appreciate President Trump,” Netanyahu stated. “He is the greatest of our friends in the White House. I greatly appreciate the historical partnership with the U.S. against Iran’s attempts to acquire nuclear weapons.”

Netanyahu’s comments emphasize that Israel is committed to maintaining its security stance while continuing collaboration with the U.S. Despite potential agreements, Netanyahu reiterated his determination to prevent Iran from securing nuclear weapons.
