Royce White Discusses WNBA and Gender Eligibility Debate

Former NBA player Royce White announced plans to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft, stating that the league exemplifies “us losing a lot of things in this country.” During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends Weekend,” White addressed concerns related to the league’s handling of the growing debate around transgender athletes and the lack of a defined gender eligibility policy.

White expressed his views, saying, “The WNBA is an example of a herald of us losing a lot of things in this country.” He emphasized the need for electoral security, addressing issues like mass deportations, and banning Sharia Law and Marxism nationwide. White also criticized the WNBA for its lack of precise terminology.

The WNBA’s collective bargaining agreement states that “only players who are women are eligible to play,” yet the document doesn’t define “woman” or “women.” Terms like “transgender” and “gender identity” are absent, despite having definitions for numerous other terms.

White remarked, “It’s just astounding that the WNBA can’t define the ‘W’ in the name,” adding that a necessary conversation on player eligibility across gender lines is ongoing. He expressed the belief that his participation could elevate the WNBA’s audience and ticket sales.

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert recently addressed the inclusion of transgender athletes, acknowledging the debate as “nuanced” and expressing appreciation for the media responses from teams. She emphasized the complexity of the topic and the importance of ongoing discussions.

White humorously mentioned his “feminine era” on the show, saying, “I never thought that I was a woman I always trusted the science.” He added, “After further review, strong look at my personal preferences, it would appear, indeed, that sometimes I identify as a transgender woman.” White seeks to play “with some of my queens” in what he considers the peak of his athletic career.
