2 hours ago 0

Passengers on an Orlando-bound Delta flight evacuated using slides after an emergency landing on a taxiway at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport. This incident occurred shortly after takeoff on Saturday morning.

The flight, Delta 2204, carried about 200 passengers and six crew members. Reports of smoke in the flight deck led to the emergency declaration. The aircraft took off from Atlanta shortly before 7:30 a.m. but soon returned to make an emergency landing.

A Delta spokesperson explained that evacuation slides were used, allowing passengers and crew to leave the plane on the taxiway. Buses transported them to the terminal.

The flight crew responded to fumes in the flight deck by returning to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. An evacuation was conducted on a taxiway, and customers are being reaccommodated with a new aircraft. Delta prioritizes safety and apologizes to customers for the inconvenience.

Delta stated that passengers are being rebooked to Orlando. The affected aircraft is undergoing maintenance review.
