Unlikely Friendship: A Duck Helps a Dog Recover

2 hours ago 0

Justin and Tori Cannarelli, living in New York, have a family that includes not only their two children, Cameron and Charlie, and a pet dog but also an unexpected member: a duck named Louie.

Originally, Louie was intended for Justin’s garden center. The Cannarellis found Louie, a duck hatched in a Long Island elementary school, through Facebook Marketplace. However, Tori brought Louie home instead, planning for a short stay.

The duck’s presence became crucial for their golden retriever, Barley. Earlier, Barley had experienced seizures and was placed on medication which stopped the seizures but numbed her spirited demeanor. She lost her goldenness, Tori said about the side effects.

In an unexpected turn, Barley found a friend in Louie. The duck and the dog formed a close bond, which revitalized Barley’s spirits. She started wagging her tail and having personality again, Tori joyfully noted.

Now, Louie and Barley are constant companions, with Louie pecking playfully and Barley chasing. Their friendship has reenergized Barley, giving her a new zest for life. Cameron, the Cannarellis’ son, believes that Barley decided to fit in with Louie, spreading her joy.
