Police are actively searching for a gunman responsible for shooting a Walmart employee in Pennsylvania. This incident occurred during a dispute between two men inside the store.
The Incident Details
The shooting happened at the Walmart located at 50 McDade Blvd. in Darby Township, Delaware County, shortly after 7 p.m. Reports of gunfire prompted officers to respond quickly.
According to Darby Township Police Chief Michael Sousa, two men were involved in a verbal altercation in the self-checkout area. During this exchange, one of the men pulled out a handgun and fired it.
Sousa’s Statement: “It looked like, from what we’re gathering with my detectives, two males get into a verbal altercation at self-checkout,” Sousa explained. “One of the males brandishes a firearm, fires a round indiscriminately and hits one of the female Walmart employees in the leg — not the subject he was arguing with.”
Injured Employee and Investigation
The injured employee was taken to a hospital. An update on her condition was not immediately available.
The suspect fled the scene before the police arrived and remains at large. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the shooter.

Chief Sousa assured the public: “There is no threat to the public.” Officers cleared the Walmart and the surrounding businesses to ensure safety.
