Florida Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing and Burning Mother’s Body

4 days ago 0

Authorities in Florida arrested George Beemer, 23, and charged him with second-degree murder, first-degree arson, and abuse of a deceased body in connection with the death of his mother. This incident occurred following a buildup of anger over the years, according to an arrest report. Beemer reportedly shot his mother and then set her body on fire, claiming she expressed a wish to be cremated.

Beemer contacted 911 from his Fort Myers residence on Saturday, complaining of chest pain. Emergency responders transported him to a hospital for evaluation. Concurrently, a separate 911 call reported a fire at the same address. When fire crews arrived, they found Beemer’s mother dead and severely burned inside the home.

The involvement of major crimes detectives, crime scene investigators, and fire service professionals led to the swift arrest of Beemer. Sheriff Carmine Marceno praised their detailed and relentless investigative efforts.

Upon interrogation, Beemer confessed to shooting his mother once and setting the house ablaze by pouring gasoline around her body and igniting it. His actions were allegedly fueled by years of perceived mistreatment by his mother, including allegations of molestation. However, these allegations were contested by a friend of Beemer’s mother, who found them impossible to believe.

Madison Edwards, a former classmate of Beemer, expressed shock upon learning of his arrest. Though aware of Beemer’s detention, Edwards was taken aback by the alleged murder.

Beemer remains detained at the Lee County Jail as investigations continue. Sheriff Marceno extended prayers to the victim’s family and assured continued efforts to uncover the full details of the tragedy. Additional information from the sheriff’s office is awaited.
