This past Friday, LeBron James concluded his much-anticipated free agency by choosing to join the Philadelphia 76ers. His decision adds a layer of excitement to a team already steeped in NBA history, featuring legends like Allen Iverson.

On Tuesday, Allen Iverson appeared on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” to share his thoughts on various topics, including James’ new affiliation with Philadelphia. Iverson expressed his delight over James’ choice, highlighting its significance for the city and the team.

“Just ecstatic, man. You know I’m just happy for the city of Philadelphia,” Iverson remarked. “For the team, you know what I mean? The type of player he is, the type of person he is. I’m just happy, man. He brings a lot, you know what I mean? He really is the answer.”

LeBron James completed his eighth and last season with the Los Angeles Lakers at age 41. He opted for the 76ers over competing offers from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Golden State Warriors. He agreed to a two-year deal valued at $8 million, the veteran minimum, marking his 24th NBA season joining forces with a strong lineup that includes Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe.

Iverson characterized the situation for the 76ers as “championship or bust” with the addition of James:

“He just boosts the percentage of any team having a chance to win a championship,” Iverson said. “He’s one of them ones, man. You know what I mean? He’s The King for a reason.”
