7 days ago 0

Michigan officials have identified a couple found dead along with their six children inside their burning home. This case is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

On Friday, authorities discovered six children and two adults deceased in a residence in Grand Haven Township, responding to a house fire. According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, all eight individuals had gunshot wounds, leading to a suspicious death investigation.

Victims Identified

Authorities on Monday identified the adults as Kristopher Karolkiewicz, 47, and Amanda Karolkiewicz, 39. Although the children were not named, officials stated they include four boys aged 15, 12, 11, and 5, along with two 11-year-old girls. Two of these children were adopted.

Kristopher and Amanda Karolkiewicz were found dead along with their children in Michigan.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office believes Kristopher Karolkiewicz was the suspect in this murder-suicide scenario.

Fire Investigation

Investigators report that Kristopher Karolkiewicz started the fire in multiple areas of the home after committing the murders. The Michigan State Police are still examining the cause of the fire, which initial indications suggest was set deliberately throughout the residence. The family’s pets also did not survive the fire and smoke.

Amanda Karolkiewicz and her two adopted daughters had returned from a visit to China, which included a trip to Shanghai Disneyland, as noted on her TikTok account.

Incident Report

The Grand Haven Fire Department was initially called to the area between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Friday as people reported the smell of smoke. However, firefighters did not find a fire at that time. By 11:45 a.m., they returned to the 14900 block of Riverside Trail after receiving alerts about white smoke coming from the residence.

Steve Lawwill, Amanda’s stepfather, expressed gratitude for the joy the family brought into his life, indicating the deep loss felt by loved ones.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that no additional suspects are involved in this case.
