TikTok influencer Sara Gilson, also known as Sara Duffey, was found dead alongside her estranged husband, Jeremiah Shawn Duffey, in what police in Owasso, Oklahoma, are investigating as a murder-suicide. This tragic incident unfolded after Gilson had made public allegations against Jeremiah, accusing him of being involved in inappropriate activities with minors.
Just weeks before the incident, Gilson posted on TikTok, calling out her husband as a pedophile. Her ex-husband, Lyle Landers, expressed that he had repeatedly urged her to leave Jeremiah, emphasizing the abusive nature of the relationship. He recounted how he had tried to assist Gilson over the years, but Jeremiah seemingly maintained control over her, preventing her escape.
“She was a wonderful mother and would die for her children,” remarked Landers. He believed her efforts to protect children ultimately led to her demise.
On June 9, the Owasso Police received a report involving Jeremiah Duffey, who worked as a basketball coach. He was accused of making inappropriate contact with a young girl during a school event. This was not the first report of such nature, as there had been prior allegations of lewd molestation involving minors.
Following this accusation, Sara Duffey took action by filing an emergency protective order against Jeremiah, barring him from their home. Another protective order was also filed against him on the same day by a different woman, who accused him of inappropriate behavior towards her teenage daughter, a player on his basketball team.
The situation escalated further when a child inside the Duffey residence called 911, reporting that Jeremiah had shot Gilson. Police are continuing to investigate the details surrounding these tragic events.
