Four House Republicans broke ranks with President Donald Trump and most of their party on Thursday. They voted alongside Democrats to pass a resolution aimed at halting U.S. military action in Iran unless Congress grants explicit authorization.
Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, Warren Davidson of Ohio, Tom Barrett of Michigan, and Thomas Massie of Kentucky supported the measure. This resolution passed with a vote of 214-208.
In June, these same four Republicans also opposed Trump’s Iran war powers. Their votes represent a rare bipartisan challenge to the administration amid increasing concerns in Capitol Hill about the escalating conflict.
The resolution carries symbolic weight, indicating cracks in Republican unity just as the Senate is set to consider a similar proposal later that day.
