Boston Red Sox Achieve 15th Consecutive Victory

The Boston Red Sox triumphed in their 15th consecutive game, tying a historic club record set 80 years ago. In the opener of a split doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon, they defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-3. This winning streak equals that of the 1946 American League champions, a team led by future Hall of Famer Ted Williams.

Jarren Duran played a pivotal role with a two-run triple and a sacrifice fly. Caleb Durbin, notable for his tiebreaking homer in the previous game, added a two-run single. Ceddanne Rafaela contributed with a solo home run, a game rescheduled from a rainout. For Baltimore, Christian Encarnacion-Strand also made headlines with a solo homer, marking his second in consecutive games.

Jake Bennnett, the rookie left-handed pitcher for the Red Sox, delivered 5 2/3 innings on the mound. He allowed three runs on nine hits. One run resulted from a sun-aided RBI double by Tyler O’Neill. In a dramatic moment, Bennnett took a 102.8 mph liner off his stomach but continued to play after a check-up by medical staff and team members.

Aroldis Chapman closed the game, securing the last three outs for his 23rd save of the season and the 390th in his career. This achievement ties him with Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley for ninth place on the all-time list.

The Red Sox quickly took a 4-0 lead against Orioles pitcher Dean Kremer in the first inning, with contributions from Durbin and Duran. Encarnacion-Strand’s homer in the fourth reduced the deficit to 5-2, but Rafaela’s home run over the Green Monster expanded Boston’s lead.

Kremer managed to last six innings, conceding six runs. In the nightcap, the Orioles plan to start with right-hander Kyle Bradish, while the Red Sox will have left-hander Eduardo Rivera on the mound.
