A mass shooting in Tucson, Arizona, injured nine people, according to police reports. The incident occurred early Sunday morning, around 2 a.m., on East Congress Street, a downtown area popular for its nightlife, bars, and restaurants.
Tucson Police Department officers on patrol heard gunfire and quickly responded. Upon arriving at the scene, they encountered a suspected gunman. Officers ordered the suspect to comply, but when instructions were not followed, an officer shot the suspect. The suspect sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. The officers involved were not harmed.
The nine victims, all adults, received immediate care from officers at the scene. They were then transported to the hospital. Most of the injuries involved extremities.
