Trump Endorses Darline Graham Nordone for Lindsey Graham’s Senate Seat

President Donald Trump is advocating for Darline Graham Nordone, sister of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., to be appointed as the interim Senator for South Carolina. Trump conveyed his support via Truth Social, expressing that her appointment would serve as a tribute to Lindsey Graham, who had been personally close with his sister after legally adopting her following the death of their parents.

With the Senate seat vacated, a flurry of activity is underway to find a temporary placeholder and identify a candidate for the upcoming special election in November. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster is anticipated to reveal his choice for the temporary appointee at 4 p.m. on Monday. At present, McMaster has not indicated his preferred candidate publicly. Fox News Digital reached out for comments but has yet to receive a response from McMaster’s office.

Additionally, Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., has voiced his support for Darline Graham Nordone. On platform X, Scott emphasized her deep understanding of Lindsey’s commitment to family, the state, and the nation. Earlier, he suggested former Rep. Trey Gowdy and former Sen. Jim DeMint as potential interim candidates but encouraged a placeholder until voters decide in an election.

Both Gowdy and DeMint have previously held positions in Congress, but Nordone has not. Sources close to Scott, who leads the National Republican Senatorial Committee, indicate his preference for an interim candidate who would serve temporarily without seeking a full six-year term.

As the appointment decision approaches, the race for the Republican nomination remains competitive. Reps. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., and Ralph Norman, R-S.C., have shown interest in the special election scheduled for August 11. While Rep.
