NEW YORK (AP) — Amanda Powell traveled over a thousand miles from Little Rock, Arkansas, to New York City to celebrate what she believes is the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Accompanied by friends, Powell expressed her excitement about the event.
Many fans and curious onlookers endured intense heat in New York City to catch a glimpse of what some call the American royal wedding. Kristen Donohue, visiting the area with a coworker, likened the couple to royalty. “They are literally the king and queen of America,” she said.
A law enforcement official, informed about the security arrangements, indicated that Swift and Kelce would marry at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. A smaller rehearsal dinner took place Thursday night. Despite widespread speculation, neither Swift nor Kelce has confirmed the wedding date or location. A Swift representative has not responded to inquiries regarding the event.
About 100 guests arrived at Madison Square Garden on Thursday evening for a pre-party celebration, highlighted by heavy security. Attendees were dropped off by black SUVs and entered through a tented walkway. Barricades and increased police presence around the area suggested significant preparations for the event.
The busy surroundings of Madison Square Garden, next to Penn Station, saw even more activity than usual due to the wedding buzz. Some passersby and fans made trips specifically to witness the scene, even as streets were closed off and security restricted access.
Rachel Latchford and Linda Solano, visiting from Pennsylvania for a Broadway show, couldn’t resist checking out the wedding excitement. Many fans, like Alyssa Heinen, expressed their admiration for Swift, noting her influence and happiness. “We grew up with Taylor Swift, so seeing her happy is inspiring,” Heinen shared with enthusiasm.
Fans remained hopeful for a glimpse of any details about the event. Brittany McCusker expressed respect for the couple’s privacy, acknowledging the exclusivity of the event. “It’s amazing they can keep this private,” she said.
