Empire State Building Stunt Draws Attention

On Wednesday, two individuals made a headline-grabbing climb to the top of New York City’s iconic Empire State Building. The duo, clad in dark clothes and masks, displayed a banner advocating for peace. The banner read, ‘When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace.’

Adding to the spectacle, the man knelt down and appeared to propose to the woman. They then embraced and kissed as helicopters from NBC New York circled above, capturing the unusual scene.

Upon descent, New York City Police Department spokeswoman Delaney Kempner confirmed that law enforcement took them into custody once they reached the street.

The pair’s ascent to the top of the Empire State Building remains unclear. They scaled the 200-foot spire of the 1,250-foot skyscraper, which ranks as the sixth tallest building in the United States.

‘What’s all the hoopla going on over there?’ an unidentified person queried in air traffic control audio reviewed by NBC News.

‘Geniuses climbed to the top of the Empire State Building, the top of the spire,’ a response came, met with, ‘A little hot for that, isn’t it?’

This incident occurred amidst an influx of visitors coming to New York City for World Cup matches and the July Fourth holiday weekend. Additionally, the city is on high alert for a rumored wedding between pop star Taylor Swift and football player Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden.
