Talarico Challenges Paxton Amid Scandal

James Talarico, the Democratic Senate candidate in Texas, has used recent allegations against his Republican opponent, Ken Paxton, to challenge his integrity. A report by The Daily Mail showed Mr. Paxton traveling to Reykjavik, Iceland, with another woman, despite being separated but not officially divorced from his wife. The article labeled Mr. Paxton as a “married Texas Republican caught on video with mistress on secret romantic getaway.”

Mr. Paxton has not confirmed any romantic involvement with the woman in the report. He is in the midst of divorce proceedings with Angela Paxton, a Texas state senator, although the trial has been delayed.

In response to these revelations, Mr. Talarico did not focus on Mr. Paxton’s personal life. Instead, he highlighted Mr. Paxton’s alleged disconnect with regular Texans. In a post on social media, Mr. Talarico reminded voters of Mr. Paxton’s past impeachment on corruption charges, where the State Senate ultimately acquitted him. He criticized Mr. Paxton for engaging in lavish trips while many Texans struggle with basic needs.
