Search Continues for Missing Giraffe in Texas

9 hours ago 0

A giraffe named Gracie, known for her distinctive size and striking coat, is missing from a ranch in Texas. The search, led by Cedar Hollow Ranch’s manager Vick Jones, is ongoing after recent efforts did not yield her return.

Gracie disappeared from Cedar Hollow Ranch, where she is one of two giraffes, located about 100 miles northwest of San Antonio. The last confirmed sighting was on a game camera west of Leakey.

The ranch’s owner has offered a $5,000 reward for anyone providing information leading to Gracie’s safe capture. Ranch officials and local authorities in Real County continue their search for the young giraffe, estimated to be 3 or 4 years old.

Jones explained that Gracie vanished after feeding in an area typically avoided by other giraffes on the ranch. She then found a path to an unfenced area, leaving the property beyond an 8-foot gate.

Following a lead, Jones inspected an area approximately 4 miles from the ranch. Although he received photos suggesting Gracie’s presence, the images were outdated, and she was not located there.

Despite this setback, Jones remains committed to the search, expressing that “everybody in the whole world seems to be looking for her.” The pursuit will continue until Gracie is safely returned.
