1 day ago 0

Dustin Nolan, a former news anchor from Iowa, clarified his farewell from KWQC TV6, which gained widespread attention. Nolan emphasized the importance of facts and truthfulness in journalism. He expressed disappointment over publications twisting his words to fit different ideologies.

Nolan announced his departure from the news industry during a KWQC TV6 broadcast. He highlighted the importance of the job and was grateful for the community that allowed him to be part of their mornings.

He addressed misconceptions about his departure, stating that it was a long-considered personal decision, not a criticism of the news station or the industry. He and his wife had planned this change months in advance, and the station posted his position months ago. Nolan stressed that his decision was to pursue a personal dream.

“First I was not quitting on-air. I decided with my wife months ago, and the station had the job posted months ago. Second, I was not blasting the news station or the news industry,” said Nolan.

Nolan criticized the publications for not seeking context and inventing a narrative around his decision. He was particularly upset about the use of his son’s name without permission.

He thanked the community in the Quad Cities for their support and emphasized the need for strong journalism today. He stood by his statement, which he believes speaks for itself.

“I really just wanted to thank our viewers for welcoming us into their homes each morning and tell them how I’ve approached my job,” Nolan reiterated.

Dustin Nolan had been with KWQC TV6 since 2022. He and his wife previously won a Mid-America Emmy in 2025 for a Best Morning/Daytime newscast.
