A strong wind gust led to a metal cabana frame collapsing at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, injuring five people. This occurred on a Saturday evening at the DAER Club, a rooftop entertainment venue in Hollywood, Florida.
The winds affected an outdoor area of the venue, causing the structure to partially collapse. Five individuals were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Videos posted online captured guests and staff assisting those trapped, lifting parts of the frame before first responders arrived.
The cabana frame was swept up by the wind, ending up in an area near the resort’s pool deck occupied by guests. Fox News Digital contacted the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for a statement.
One witness reported feeling shocked, noting that he had moved away from the site moments before the incident. He expressed relief and disbelief at narrowly escaping harm.
Previously, Fox News Digital covered a similar weather-related incident. A New Jersey lifeguard was injured when a beach umbrella was lifted by the wind at Asbury Park’s 3rd Avenue Beach in June 2025. The lifeguard was conscious and alert after the umbrella stake pierced her shoulder, receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
These events highlight the importance of securing outdoor equipment during windy weather, especially in open-air areas like beaches.
