After his win, Clark addressed previous controversies, apologizing for his past behavior. “New York didn’t really like me. I love you guys,” he said in an interview with Mike Tirico. He acknowledged his past mistakes at Oakmont Country Club and expressed his desire to win over the fans. “But I get it, they’re rooting for Scottie. Grand slams only happen a few times. So, he’s gonna get it. He’s the best player in the world, but today’s my day,” Clark explained.

Scottie Scheffler was a key competitor, reaching second place on the leaderboard. His 30th birthday on Sunday had added to fan support. Despite the crowd’s preference and Clark’s past antics, Clark managed to focus and emerge victorious.
