In Munich, Germany, a tragic collision between two cargo trains led to the death of one individual. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday on a bridge, resulting in the derailment and crash of two carriages onto the street below, as reported by local police.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collision, according to a police spokesperson in the southern German city, who provided the information to Reuters. Rescue efforts are focused on the two cars of a freight train that fell from the bridge in the Milbertshofen district of Munich.
Emergency services were alerted to the situation in Munich’s northern district of Milbertshofen at 1:40 a.m. local time. Approximately 60 first responders were dispatched to the scene, as confirmed by a fire department spokesperson.
