A business jet crashed and ignited on a Texas highway on Tuesday night, resulting in one fatality, as reported by police. The plane, carrying six individuals, went down on Loop 20 in Laredo, Texas, shortly after 10 p.m., according to Jose Baeza, an investigator with the Laredo Police Department.
Baeza mentioned that the aircraft struck a vehicle during the incident. Authorities did not immediately disclose whether the deceased person was an aircraft occupant or someone on the ground.

The condition of those on the plane was not immediately available. Initial reports indicated no serious ground injuries, although five officers responding to the scene were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, noted Baeza.
Following the crash, Loop 20 was closed and expected to remain shut into Wednesday morning. The plane involved was a Cessna Citation Latitude twin jet, with FlightAware data indicating it departed from Los Cabos International Airport in Mexico at 6:19 p.m.
NetJets, the company associated with the crashed aircraft, released a statement confirming the incident involved one of their planes and that they are cooperating with authorities.
What caused the crash as the plane arrived in Laredo, approximately 140 miles southwest of San Antonio, remains unclear. Social media videos showed the plane lying on its side, smashed against a highway barrier, and the tail separated from the fuselage.
