1 week ago 0

The FBI announced on Tuesday that it had successfully thwarted a potential threat aimed at the UFC Freedom 250 event scheduled to be held at the White House. This event, attended by President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump, and other notable figures, was targeted on June 10.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that a multi-state operation was launched in collaboration with law enforcement partners after they became aware of a possible threat. Patel stated on social media platform X that several individuals were taken into custody and that the proposed attacks were completely averted.

According to Fox News Digital, unnamed officials revealed that five individuals were detained, and 23 people were identified as part of the network involved in the alleged plot. Reports suggest that the plot included plans to use drones loaded with explosives to target buildings near the event, as well as a plan to breach the White House gate.

Among the attendees were Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, UFC CEO Dana White, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The event was of significant importance, drawing influential members from both the business and political spheres.

Patel further elaborated on social media, emphasizing the success of the investigative work undertaken by the FBI and its partners. He highlighted the law enforcement team’s capability to detect, respond to, and neutralize threats to American citizens, especially during large gatherings such as the UFC 250 fight.

“On June 10, FBI and our law enforcement partners became aware of a potential threat to the UFC America 250 event in Washington, D.C. involving individuals outside of the National Capital Region – and thanks to the rapid action of this FBI, our partners, and the Department of Justice in a multi-state operation, multiple individuals are now in custody and allegedly planned attacks were stopped cold.”

Patel commended the dedicated efforts of the agents and pledged to continue updating the public as the situation develops. A representative from the FBI pointed to Patel’s statement for any further comment, stating that they had no additional information to provide at the time.

This story is ongoing, with more updates expected as information becomes available.
