Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt has engaged with social media following his defeat in the Los Angeles mayoral race earlier this week.
Pratt, an unexpected contender in the election, shared a photo of a duck on water during a sunset on X without a caption. This marked his first public post since the final vote tally confirmed his loss.
The Associated Press announced the race result for Nithya Raman at 7:55 p.m. ET on Monday. Raman, a progressive city council member, will compete against current Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, a Democrat, in the November runoff.
By 8:54 p.m. ET Tuesday, Bass had 34.3% of votes, Raman had 29%, while Pratt held 25.5% with 98% of votes counted.
Newsweek contacted Pratt’s campaign for comments on Tuesday night.
What You Should Know
This defeat came after a closely observed primary. Raman secured a spot in the runoff against Bass despite Pratt’s presence as a contender during the ballot count. The final results shifted the race towards a showdown between established Los Angeles political figures in November.
Pratt’s campaign attracted attention due to its unconventional nature. He was vocal about city leadership after last year’s fires in Los Angeles County destroyed his home.
His recent social media post received over 335,000 views and more than 1,000 replies by 9:42 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Newsweek’s review showed this was his first permanent post since Raman’s victory announcement.
